here's a preview of one of the digital stamps all colored up, i really like this one, one of my favorite parts of christmas is writing letters to santa with my kids :)

for my project i made a very lovely shaker card inspired christmas ornament that features a lovely Pretty Christmas Tree with Presents  i like the idea thatit was cold outside and you were looking in at the nice warm christmas tree.  i used the largest lables die that i had for the base, and added a half inch lip around the edge and place another die of the same size on the lip cut out a window and covered it with acetate the cut some ttime holtz snowflakes edge die and cut them apart and embossed them with stampendous embossing enamel and added antique buttons all around the edge of the "window" .  it was a bit labor intensive but well worth all the effort.

here's a close up of the nice warm and cozy tree!  i hope you enjoyed this project, please con't.  on witht the blog hop and head on over to Tanya J. 's blog.  don't forget to leave a comment to be entered to win some free christmas digi's!  thanks for stopping by :)

inky impressions challenge- give thanks

hello everyone it's that time again, time for a new challenge from inky impressions.  the new challenge theme is give thanks, which is a very easy thing to do this time of year :).  here's my card for this week :

i tried to keep this card nice and sophisticated by using sepia tones and blacks.  i used the senitment "you're unforgettable" on this card, i love the size of the sentiment stamps they fit perfectly onto little labels or tags, like ive used here.
i used the stamp Lili playing in the leaves and colored her in sepia tones with my copic markers.  :)

i hope you enjoy this card and stop by the inky impressions challenge blog to join us :)

inky impressions happy birthday challenge

hello everyone!  this week at the Inky Impressions Challenge Blog the new theme is "happy birthday!"  this works out great for me, because a lot of the people in my family have birthdays during the holiday season.  5 to be exact, sprinkled all through the 4 major holidays (halloween, thanksgiving, christmas and new years) and with 5 extra birthdays this is a VERY busy time of year.  so anytime i can kill two birds with one stone by making a birthday card and entering to win some challenges is very awesome! :)  the card that i made is for my little 3 y/o girl her birthday is in december.  :)

since the new tinkerbell movie came out i decided to use fairy Lili  which is a PERFECT match for the doll! i was so happy about that.  :)  and my little girl's favorite color is green so i tried to really green it up in this one :)

here's a little close up of fairy lili,

and a side angle of the card,  as if there isn't enough waste due to packing i decided to make my own packing lol.  but i really love the image and the doll side by side.  and my birthday girl is little so she doesn't exactly know what to do with cards yet.  so this works out perffect for her :)

i hope you enjoyed this project and try it out yourself!  thanks for visiting! :)

mug cozy tutorial

this year for christmas im trying to make all of the gifts for the adults and their kids in our family.  meaning both of my bothers, their wives and kids, and grandparents.  we don't really have a lot of money to spend on everyone else but i still want to give them something nice.

here's a tutorial for one of the items that im making everyone (except for the two littlest kids)  it's a mug cozy i saw this on thumbleanna  she didn't really give a tutorial on how it all goes together, so i decided to make one myself.  i hope you enjoy my spin on it, check out thimbleanna she has LOTS of great things on her blog to make! :)

first start off with a 9.5 inch long and 3 inch wide piece of fabric
i made mine this width so i wouldn't be getting a mouth full of fabric each time i would sip from the cup.  feel free to customize it to your measurement of your favorite mug.

cut a backing and batting and make your quilting sandwich and quilt.
cut 5 inchs of the elastic fold it in half and place on one side of the 3 inch edge and pin.  stich these to the edge securely.
add our binding over the elastic, and fold over the elastic and stitch over so they stick out and will be easy to grab when putting it on your mug.   continue binding the rest.
add buttons to the opposite side and i noticed on thimbleanna's mug cozy she added hers to the top and bottom.  while i added mine closer to the center.  im not sure it makes a difference.  but i liked them closer. lol

now attach to your mug and enjoy! :)

this is a mug cozy that i made for my older brother.  i made his out if some vintage wool, from a coat and linen with vintage metal buttons.  im pairing each with a matching mug rug to put in their stockings :)  merry christmas!

halloween/fall inky impressions challenge

yay! it's time for another Inky Impressions challenge! :) this week it is halloween or fall. i LOVE halloween so i chose that :) here's this weeks card

it turned out soo cute!  i really love the stamp "Nickie.. the sweet witch"  i used papers from hobby lobbys paper studio, and made a little pocket on the front that i watercolored with tim holtz distress markers, inside  the pocket is a halloween greetings cut out from 7 gypsy's and a trrain ticket for a corpse and a photo negative of a guy holding a  gun..... spooky! :)

here's a close up of the pocket and some of the details.  the orange hearts were pink and i painted them orange with some gloss acrylic paint.  the witch was on sheet of paper that i fussy cut.  i really like the way the watercolor turned out :)

here's a close up of the stamped image, i paper pieced the dress with black and green papers from same papers as the background.

thanks for checking out my project! i would like to enter this into the following challenges :)

inky challenge- anything but a card

this week challenge on the Inky Impressions challenge blog is anything but a card.  i used one of their super cute robin hood Christopher and made a little origami box to set him on.

i used very sparkly paper by my minds eye to make the box, trimmed it with lace, made a wire heart that i backed with more my minds eye paper punched the edge of the box with a martha stewart punch around the page set, and added trims, flowers and buttons.  it's really easy and quick project that i found on youtube the original lady that demonstrates how to make it is sassyscraper and here is a link to her tutorial.  :)

thanks for stopping by!

i would like to enter this project in the following challenges.
