pink tilda christmas

hello!  i havent made a tilda card in awhile, but i really wanted to use my new christmas tildas, and just havent gotten a chance, the christmas season has kept me so busy!  here's the one that ive made, hope you like it! :)

it's so shabby chic and pretty! i colored my tilda's with my distress markers, ive really focused on getting better at this, watercolor is not one of my strong points but i think that i nailed it on this one! :)  i used my tim holtz snowflake edger and painted them blue then added stampendous embossing enamel to the flakes, i love this stuff!  i also made a frame with my spellbinders and painted them then dipped it into some diamond dust crystals,  the stars are a wooden star diecuts that i covered with paper and used my picket fence on the edge.

here's a close up of my tildas!

i would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

tilda's town - freezing season
magnolia licious - pink christmas
crafty mess - vintage christmas
simon says stamp - use your favorite (mine's magnolia!) :)

inky impressions challenge - snow

hello everyone it's time for another inky impressions challenge, this weeks theme is - winter or snow! i really had a blast with this theme, here it is

for this card i printed my digital stamp Marisa's Sleigh Ride onto watercolor paper, ironed it to set my printers ink, and used my tim holtz markers to paint Marisa.   for the large snowflake that i mounted Marisa on is just cut out of craft paper and painted with acrylic paints, then mounted onto a piece of basic grey white and cream lace patterned paper and cut out to make the snowflake stand out.  i added some i am roses flowers in to corner, silver swirls from hobby lobby, snowflake lace from the tin tiara on etsy, and a "warm wishes" sentiment to the corner.

here's a close up of Marisa's Sleigh Ride and you can really see the details of the hand painted snowflake background i sponged where she would be riding so she would look out of place and flicked with sliver paint after i finished with all it's painting for just a little christmas sparkle! :)

i hope you like this project and check out inky impressions!

the theme this week is Make it girly.  here's my creation :)

this card turned out so great! for this challenge i wanted to make a card, but also an ornament so i combined the two and made a card that looked like an ornament that you could hand on your tree.  :) the paper i used were from authinque.

here's a close up of the little MarLeigha's Ornament Dance   i paper pieced her dress and bow with some papers from the Michele's dollar section.

mug cozy tutorial

this year for christmas im trying to make all of the gifts for the adults and their kids in our family.  meaning both of my bothers, their wives and kids, and grandparents.  we don't really have a lot of money to spend on everyone else but i still want to give them something nice.

here's a tutorial for one of the items that im making everyone (except for the two littlest kids)  it's a mug cozy i saw this on thumbleanna  she didn't really give a tutorial on how it all goes together, so i decided to make one myself.  i hope you enjoy my spin on it, check out thimbleanna she has LOTS of great things on her blog to make! :)

first start off with a 9.5 inch long and 3 inch wide piece of fabric
i made mine this width so i wouldn't be getting a mouth full of fabric each time i would sip from the cup.  feel free to customize it to your measurement of your favorite mug.

cut a backing and batting and make your quilting sandwich and quilt.
cut 5 inchs of the elastic fold it in half and place on one side of the 3 inch edge and pin.  stich these to the edge securely.
add our binding over the elastic, and fold over the elastic and stitch over so they stick out and will be easy to grab when putting it on your mug.   continue binding the rest.
add buttons to the opposite side and i noticed on thimbleanna's mug cozy she added hers to the top and bottom.  while i added mine closer to the center.  im not sure it makes a difference.  but i liked them closer. lol

now attach to your mug and enjoy! :)

this is a mug cozy that i made for my older brother.  i made his out if some vintage wool, from a coat and linen with vintage metal buttons.  im pairing each with a matching mug rug to put in their stockings :)  merry christmas!

thanks for stopping by!

christmas in july

hey everyone mo manning is still holding their new design team challenge this weeks theme is : in the dog house.  which means it need to have a dog or it needs to have something to do with being in trouble lol.  cute :)  this is what i came up with for this challenge....

he's such a cute little puppy! :)  im going to give this card to my parents, they had a little black lab just like this one.  green and red are my favorite christmas colors, and i love the vintage feel of this card.  i collect 1950's vintage stationary and i wanted this to seem like one of them :)

i got these cute chipboard elements from glitter dust studios off of etsy and i painted them white and dunked them into some glittering snow effects crystals that i got from hobby lobby.

i got this big giant metal flower at a flea market.  it was broken,  but it came with more metal flowers, in a big sack for a dollar lol.

here's the top swirl, there's more metal flowers, glass busttons, and a stick pin.

and here's a close up of that cute puppy!  i embossed his background with and embossing folder called candy cane, added some vintage trims behind him, and used puffy foams to mount him.

i hope you enjoy this card and that it puts you in the Christmas spirit! :)

TOMIC & tildas town blog challenge

hello everyone1 this card i made is for the tomic blog challenge.  the theme is red, green and white, christmas in july.  and these just happen to be my favorite colors for christmas! :)
i'm  also entering it in the tilda's town blog challenge their theme is anything goes. :)

this is what i came up with.  it's got tons of trim! makes it look like a giant present! :)

here's the corner it's got vintage trims, paper stars and nice vintage themed iamroses flowers
i used buttons from my button collection and a clear acetate on the top and bottom to give it a more flushed out present look.

here's a close up of tilda.  i put her on an old vintage gift tag.  this wreath is one of my favorite vintage finds for christmas :)

i hope you like this card as much as i do! :) thanks for stopping by! :)
